Damaged in an Arizona fire in 1995, the historic V&T 4-4-0 steam locomotive Reno is now on exhibit in Virginia City, Nevada. This book describes how the Reno originally appeared in its elegant livery and serves as a hypothetical offering of how it could be restored to its historic glory. It is also an account of how the Reno was part of the engine painting style called "Best Passenger," a finish once used for Baldwin's very best passenger locomotives. V&T researcher Daryl DiBitonto recounts an era when hand craftsmanship was celebrated in artistically graceful works of art such as the Reno.
